Help me win my dream assignment
Haven't posted here in a while (almost a year, I think!) but I will update soon. But for now...

I heart NYC
I'm in Manhattan covering the Pope's visit. This is just on the heels of non-stop coverage in DC. It's a pretty interesting, historically significant event to cover, so while I remain fatigued, I'm happy to be working on it. And NYC is always fun -- I just wish there was time to actually experience some of it for pleasure, not just for work. I did get to see an old friend from the Greensboro days last night, which was really nice. I'll have to come back again when I can spend more time. I feel like I've never really gotten to know the real NYC, just mainly the touristy NYC, so my next trip will be an effort to discover what that's really like, I hope.
Forced Out
Check out my most recent big project, called Forced Out. As the project blurb says: In recent years, D.C. landlords have moved to convert hundreds of apartment buildings to condominiums. Tenants say they have been pushed out. The first day's narrated slideshow can be found directly at this link. The Video/Photo slideshow about a specific family's experience with a fire in their building is here. And finally, the day three photo gallery about a young boy and his family living in an all but abandoned building can be found here.
BASE Jumping

Recently I traveled to West Virginia for post.com to work on the latest in our series called "
Why We Compete." I made panoramas and gathered audio of the event and later edited everything together. You can click on the Compete logo above to check out the project. Here are a few images from the craziness that was. I didn't take many standalone still photos, so not much here. You'll get a lot more out of the piece as a whole. Shenandoah
The weekend before last, Brad and I headed down to the Shenandoah mountains for a weekend escape. We did plenty of hiking, starting at Old Rag (agreed the best hike we have both ever done), then driving to Big Meadows where we camped for more hikes on the Rose River and Lewis trails. Big Meadows was full of wildlife unafraid of the many people staying on the site - deer in particular. Brad seemed to think these deer were no big deal, but I have to admit, I was really excited to be 3 feet away from a descendant of Bambi. Anyway, here are some photos snapped on our mini-adventure:
